About Gentle Paths Toolkits

Welcome to Gentle Paths Toolkits.

I’m a qualified and registered social worker in the United Kingdom. Over more than twenty-five years I have worked directly with children and families in safeguarding, provided one-to-one emotional support, and spent several years in academic social work — undertaking research and teaching the next generation of social workers.

Through this work I have seen, time and again, how much children benefit from gentle, consistent support for their emotional wellbeing. In today’s world, children and young people face increasing pressures — from school and social media to family difficulties, domestic abuse, parental mental health challenges, and many other stresses. I created Gentle Paths Toolkits because I believe every child deserves simple, practical, and compassionate tools to help them understand, name, and care for their emotions.

Our Mission & Values

Gentle Paths Toolkits exists to support adults who care for children — parents, teachers, counsellors, social workers, and therapists — in nurturing healthy emotional and social development. Every resource is designed to be trauma-informed, gentle, and incremental. We focus on building foundational emotional skills that benefit all children, while also offering targeted support for those facing specific difficulties.

Our values are simple:

  • Gentleness and compassion come first
  • Emotional learning should feel safe, warm, and approachable — never clinical or overwhelming
  • Resources are created to be used by adults alongside children
  • All materials complement, but do not replace, professional support or local safeguarding procedures

Who Our Resources Are For

Whether you are a parent wanting to connect more deeply with your child at home, a teacher building emotional literacy in the classroom, a counsellor or therapist looking for gentle supplementary tools, or a social worker supporting vulnerable families, these printable toolkits, posters, workbooks, and activity sets are here for you.

All resources are intended to empower the caring adults in a child’s life. They are not a substitute for professional help, but they can be used appropriately and thoughtfully as part of a wider network of support.

Thank you for being here. I’m truly grateful that you’ve chosen to walk this gentle path with us. Together, we can help children grow with greater emotional confidence, resilience, and wellbeing — one small, supportive step at a time.

With warmth, Susie Founder, Gentle Paths Toolkits
